A while ago I got a survey about the new program from WW. Looks like they will factor in all macros into the points equation. Scared about the giving points for behavior change, that seems risky.
Here was the concept:
WW A game changing approach to weight loss.
Low cal, low carb, paleo, keto, food delivery – you name it, we’ve tried it. There needs to be a radically new way to lose weight.
WW has completely reinvented its famous weight loss program to help you live your best life and achieve your goals.
First take control of your journey with an individualized plan designed for you by WW nutritionists based on the foods you love. You’ll get a unique list of ZeroPoint Foods – delicious foods like shrimp, avocado, and even popcorn. These are foods you can eat as much as you need to feel satisfied while still achieving your weight loss goals.
On top of that, WW’s award-winning Points just got even better! For the first time ever, all of a foods’ macros are taken into account, rolling them all up into one simple number – the Point value. Foods with lower Points keep you fuller, longer, so you won’t go hungry, allowing this program to work for you now and forever. WW has now created the most advanced program for real life – so you can stick to it, live your life and lose the weight.
Then take advantage of a ground-breaking new way to stay motivated based on the latest in behavior change science: You can now add Points to your budget just for doing things that are good for you, such as eating veggies, drinking water, or getting active – so you get positive reinforcement and never run out!
WW – The revolutionary weight-loss program.
Individualized plans – virtually no two are alike *Millions of pounds lost and kept off *24/7 support from real people

Guest, thank you for posting. This sounds interesting.. I’m trying to wrap my head around getting extra points for doing things that are good for us. Oh well, time will tell.
Just curious, did anyone else get this survey?

@pointsplusgal, I didn't, but I'm LT so I don't think WW really cares about my opinion.
"WW has completely reinvented its famous weight loss program to help you live your best life and achieve your goals." This to me sounds like a major Program change and it looks like they're doing away with Smart Points. With all the business they've lost due to Covid, they need a major overhaul to bring people back, not just a redo. Of course I could be wrong about all this. 😀

Did any else notice that the weight watchers program items are on clearance? The point book has been 75% off for months, the food scale is 25-50% off cookbooks are marked down and in the clearance bin.
🤔 As a long time member I’ve seen this before.

Roz I totally agree. I smell a major change in the air. Every few years they do their overhaul to stir people up, and what is more attention-getting than a new program. Truth is, there’s nothing new under the sun, but if they can come up with something easy and a no-brainer to follow, I think 2022 will be a good year for them.

This makes me nervous! I've done great on green and really don't want it to go away! BUT I guess if I keep doing what has worked so far on a new program, it should still work, right?

Neen, then just keep doing what you’re doing! I did Pointsplus until fairly recently, because I was no fan of Smartpoints when they did away with Pointsplus. I didn’t like that Smartpoints were not a true representation of calories, whereas with Points plus, you knew that one Point was approximately 40 calories, and you could approximate how many calories you had for the day, if you wanted to. Ironically, I am now doing a program by ex WW director Liz Josefsberg. But I was a WW member for decades, and I truly miss the meetings and camaraderie. Reflecting back, maybe I just should have stuck with Pointsplus and kept going to meetings. But it felt like it was a waste of money, paying for something I wasn’t truly doing, and I wanted a change anyway. Congratulations on finding what works for you.

neen absolutely what @pointsplusgal said. But I always advised people that like the in-person meetings (I know you do) to at least give the new program a fair shake. You can always go back to blue if need be, but the new Program might even be a better fit! Make sure to hang onto your materials everyone!

I remember in the survey there were different names tested for "Points". So I don't think points will go away...probably just a new name.

If they are going to use all macros for the new points, as was mentioned in Guest’s survey, it will no longer be Smartpoints, which only use calories, saturated fat, sugar and protein. This will be interesting!

If there is anything new in the works I'd love to be one of the testers. How would I go about letting them know I was interested?
I know I'm in the minority but I actually liked SP's. I lost a lot of weight on that plan. I started with Points Plus and then is switched over to SP's - As of late I'm starting to let the weight creep back up and I'm finding it hard to stick to any of the plans. I think I'm just burned out with SP's and the blue plan. I've never tried the purple but don't think I'd like it. Anyway something new sounds fabulous to me!
