Hi!
Another day of putting things away/organizing after the trip, and lots of laundry. I was not so good with the journaling while away, always seemed I had other things I'd rather do than write. So I tried to fill it in today, better than nothing at all.
Joan, Jordan was not too hot. When we were in the desert on the back of the 4x4 there was quite a breeze. Good job on limiting snacks! I hope DGS will be able to find medication that works for him.
In addition to going to the gym and walking a lot while sightseeing, just generally getting around the ship was a lot of walking and we hardly ever took the elevator. We were on the 8th level, rooms start at the 5th level and went up to 11th level.
Holly, is there a way you can take yoga? That is known to help with stress/anxiety.
Aimee, 3 months will fly by fast!
I did snack last night, weight up a little this morning, 121.5. One thing with being on the ship was no snacking at all, although we could have gotten food throughout the day to take back to our room, we rarely did that. I find that when I eat breakfast, I get hungrier throughout the day. Today I had toast with ham/provolone broiled in the oven, it was so good. Had some strawberries, blueberris, kiwi, small Japanese purple potato baked with Greek yogurt mixed with garlic/onion powder, red pepper flakes, TJs citrus pepper spice blend. Tonight will have fried rice veg/meat bowl again.
So when we were out in the desert, the Bedouin guide showed us how to make soap. He took some stick-like leaves from a shrub and with a rock started grinding the leaves, and it started to get sudsy. I can imagine that being done thousands of years ago.

Hi all,
Sue, hoping to at some point. The ones available are offered either during the day or right when I get home from work. Since I tend to get more satisfaction from doing or working on things, keeping a regular journal seems to be more effective.
Quiet day here. We're all just hanging out basically. We have to attend graduation tomorrow.

Hi! Everyone must be busy. No snacking last night, weight at 121.2.
Did some errands, more laundry, gym. Food pretty much the same as yesterday, but dinner might be pizza - I use flat bread, and I just add sauce and cheese.
Holly, hope you had good weather for graduation today. It is supposed to rain here most of the weekend.
So the blond haired woman (she has kind of a more feminine Brigitte Neilson look) one day asked SO if he was a rock star. He said no and she said - then why do you look like this. LOL! He has longish hair, down his neck. She and her young girlfriend has a group that they regularly hang out with. I would say that it is maybe 80% people 60 and above on this cruise. I'm on the younger end at 52, haha.

Morning everyone. Need to hit costco today. Then wine and brew at the zoo tonight with a friend. Lost 2.6 pounds my first week back!

Hi!
Rainy, dreary day here. We had perfect weather on the cruise, every day was sunny. Weight at 121.5 this morning, did have too many carbs last night. But no snacking at least.
Congrats on the loss, Aimee! That is great! Is the program much different now? I just checked and the Wed noon time meetings that I used to go to still exists. I wonder if my old leader is there, I really liked her.
I'm kind of missing school, it was stressful and tiring, but it was also fun and interesting. I liked being in the commercial kitchen atmosphere.
So, the Russian guy from the cruise was an interesting character, lots of stories, and much family drama. He basically is supporting his 2 adult sons, one in his 30s another in his 40s. He collects a lot of art, although he's not a true art collector, he just buys what he likes and not famous art. So 20 years ago he spent 16k on 5 paintings by an unknown Chinese artist displaying in his first gallery in Canada. Later this artist became famous and the Russian sold all the pieces he bought for 250k - 500k a piece! Good investment!

Hi all,
Happy Mother's Day. I am cooking dinner tonight. A chicken marsala recipe that mom likes.
We have a staff workshop tomorrow. In the morning, we're going to play putt putt. I haven't played in forever. I wish we could do the arcade instead. I grew up in the age of arcade games.
Congrats on the loss, Aimee.
Sue, wow that was lucky for him. I know what you mean about school. When you're in it, it's crazy and stressful, but then when it's over, it's like What do I do now?
JoJo, one day at a time. :-) I need to do the bike tonight. Always feel so much better afterwards.

Hi!
Happy mother's day! Including dog/cat mommies!
Spent most of the day at my parents' house, my sister was there too. Just hung out, my mom didn't want to go out for lunch. My dad is just getting more and more senile. I have to start making some calls about getting help for my mom.
Weight is still 121.5. I need to adjust the amount I'm eating.
Jojo, are you still in pain?
Holly, is putt putt miniature golf?
Hope Joan is ok.
I do feel much less stress, but I need to figure out what I want to do now, lots to think about. In the short term, I need to get some dr's visits in, finish organizing my closet and other things. I started with the closet prior to vacation and have about 4 bags full of clothes. I have some dresses that I have never even worn, or worn lightly and I'd like to look into consignment. There are also some appliances that I need to look into fixing, although working ok, the oven hinge needs to be replaced, and we came home to our kitchen faucett leaking in a weird place. I can control it somewhat by extending the hose part of it by a little bit, but it should be replaced.

It is different, there are no GHG to check off and it seems carbs/sugars are punished even more so point wise. Its taken some getting used to.... old favorites or go toe are a bit more points and what not.

Hi all,
Putt Putt must be a southern term. Yes, it's the same. It was fun. I think today's workshop was the most productive one we've had since I've been working there.
The HOA board contacted me today to tell me that the painters will have to significantly cut back the jasmine vine that's on my front porch in order to paint the building correctly. They're making a lot of building and landscape improvements. I inherited a bunch of pretty plants, including the jasmine and hydrangeas, from the previous owners that I'm afraid will get removed. I asked if they can let me know ahead of time so that I can move them elsewhere, aka to my parents' house. I can't wait to be somewhere that I can have a real flower garden.

Wow, time has gotten by me without getting here--not like me! Of course, glued to the news and worrying.
Saturday I did my class and then DH and I went and saw Gifted--I highly recommend it as it was really excellent.
Sunday I grocery shopped and then took the day to make shrimp ceviche and some shrimp for shrimp cocktail--this to eat on the week. Then DD and the boys came over and DH ordered out from Outback--I had their ahi tuna appetizer--which I love. I had bought two Marie CALLENDAR pies--was determined not to cook any of the Mom's Day dinner!
Aimee, I am jealous--thinking I will start next week as this week there is something every day after the gym--just really busy--the JDRF Gala is Friday so will volunteer both Thursday and Friday--we had not planned to ever do another one as cruise BF was supposed to be retired but they never replaced her so she stayed all year--if she doesn't quit this time, we will quit helping--I'm sort of over the Gala thing--it's so aimed to wealth that we really cannot afford to participate fully anyway. We only go because of BF.
Did my 3 hour workout today--really love it---had nails done after lunch. It was so lovely and cool again here--it's just the weirdest weather ever.
Sue, I had a feeling you would miss school. I think being home all the time has one problem for me--I like to interact with other people and I find that DH and I enjoy talking about the things I experience with others or talk about with others---it makes life at home more interesting.
DH and I went to the vision therapist and then he went to the cataract surgeon--today the two doctors will talk about his surgery and direction to go after---all very complicated because of his double vision.
Aimee, when they changed to the high points for those snacks I got discouraged and quit going--I found myself feeling as tho I was really dieting and I didn't like it. Yet I don't seem to be able to make it on my own without some gradual gain--bugs me!
Nice that you cooked for your mom Holly! DD gave me a pair of Firefly earrings--love them--there is a crescent moon and then the crystals--she had a necklace like it that I had loved---so nice--will probably wear them nonstop.
Sounds like you met a few sort of funky people, Sue, on the ship.
Tanzi is just feeling so good--the meds made such a difference in her I am amazed. Dreading going away and boarding them but the cat sitter is definitely not coming again.

Joan- I do hope there is another change in the plan soon, you cant even go out without using all of if not more of your weeklies. I also miss having a guide for shopping like before and just a list of things that are low points. I imagine going to meetings would be more informative.

So, I am curious, Aimee--what do you think caused you to lose this week---change of foods eaten, portion control or tracking? I'm thinking before going back I ought to just start tracking again and maybe that would end up in mindful eating like Holly practices. I mindlessly taste something with no intention to eat it all and next thing I know it's gone. Yet my meals are super healthful--problem is how to get in charge of the binge-like snacks. Sort of like drug addiction for me.

Hi!
Housekeeper day, so up early and I went to vote - no lines. Then I went to TJs. Haven't been there in ages, they have so many new items - like cauliflower pizza crust. I didn't buy that but did stock up on a bunch of things.
We have people coming by for drinks Wed and Thurs, and on Fri, SO's brother and his gf are coming to visit for the weekend. He has never been to our condo. SO is the only one of the 3 brothers that likes to travel. They are driving from Massachusetts to visit friends in Florida, and making stops along the way.
Well weight up to 122 this morning. I think it is due to eating more carbs at home than I was on ship. The rice/quinoa veg/protein bowls I eat at night is more carbs than I would eat while away.
I just had 2 avocado toasts with poached eggs - yum!
Aimee, ugh, with my carbs I would probably blow all my points. What about alcohol points?
Holly, your yard sounds nice with all the plants. Maybe google online for images of small gardens for inspiration?
Joan, I have been glued to the news as well. Glad that Tanzi is feeling good
I'm kind of a homebody, and too much social interation actually drains me. SO is much better with it, he used to go on multi day business trips where he would be with people all day and into the evenings for dinners. Doing too many days of that really tires me out.
So I've been planning my menu for Friday night. I'm cutting one course out. I used to do soup course, pasta, seafood, main course, dessert. I'll still have hors d'oeuvres, and I'll buy dessert, but I think I'm going to cut the pasta course out. I just made the pureed of cauliflower soup, it is sooo good!
