Good afternoon everyone. It is getting hot 84 this afternoon. DGD#1 just phoned a little while ago. She talks non stop. Went to the store this morning with Devin in toe. He is at the stage where he thinks I should buy him something.I stopped at Jo Anns and bought some yarn for DGD#2 so that I can start her afghan. Last evening I stayed up late practicing getting the edges straight when I do double crochet. I may practice some more before I start this afghan.
Phyl, I don't buy at rummage sales either. Just like you I am trying to get rid of stuff in my house so why buy someone else' s and bring it home. I think you have to be very dedicated to searching at yard sales in order to find something of value.
Ginny, I don't fictional books that get too political. I was reading one recently. Something about coal mining and I didn't finish it Can't remember the author or the title. I have tried to stay in touch with my DSIL, I've phoned, written letters sent Christmas cards. If I went over there I would go and see her probably get her to go to lunch. But I don't think I have the energy to go to Ireland.
Ruth, I checked my library for books by Mary Marks and found 4 of them. They must be popular because there is a waiting list for them. They look like they might be a nice light read. I may put my name on the waiting list and try them out.
I will probably do some crocheting this evening and I have 2 books on the to one to read the other is an audio book. Have a good evening.

Good evening!
Phyl- some folks just have a knack for rummage/garage sales. My MIL was one of them and she found the best stuff. I am like you- just do not fare well at them. Glad you got to sit and sew- sounds like you had a good day.
CJ- congrats on getting the last Solstice block done! Nice that you have a board to set your quilt up on- what a brilliant idea. I feel confident you will find a nice way to put these blocks together so that it looks great!
Meg, sorry about the heat-85 is hot in my book!! Good idea to see if the library has any Mary Marks books, I will check out my library also. I know you were not looking for advice, but I think its wonderful that you have attempted to keep in touch with DB's wife. Glad you made it into Joanns for more yarn- what color did you pick up and what kind of yarn?
Ruth,oh crumb, I forget what I wanted to say to you and now that is on the earlier page! Yes, I get it....with 66 degree weather, I will be over as soon as I can! Much better than the 90 degrees we had today.
I am tired. Gee that seems to be my mantra! But this is regents week and I spend an awful lot of time at work. Got a good reason to be tired. I watched Beauty and the Beast (the 2017 version) with Dd this evening. We rented it from the library- so it was free. Glad I did not pay much for it- or anything at all! It was ok- both of us liked the animated version better. Got some embroidery done watching it though!!
Have a great evening. Ginny..

It is hot this evening. we didn't turn the A/C on but I may turn the whole house fan. It will pull tyhehot ait out and the cool air. I will have to open all the doors and windows. My church used to have a huge rummage sale twice a year. We raised thousands of dollars. I used to cashier and checked people out People got really good buys. I am hopeless finding good buys at something like that.
Ruth,I know you are a nurse so Ihesitatetoask if you have tried AZO? I had to use it for several weeks but I am fine now.
My computer is acting up so I am going to get off.

Meg, don't feel you have to hesitate. If someone has had a good response from something it's good to have it shared. Actually I thought of Azo and looked at it at walmart but it's expensive so I didn't get it but now I think I'm going to get some. None of this stuff they're giving me is working for the symptoms I have. They haven't given me anything that's specific for those symptoms. I'll get Azo and I bet it will work. Thank you for reminding me.
Ginny, well it might have been a bad movie but you shared that time with your dd and that's always special. Plus you got embroidery time in.
After using this proboards for almost a year now I think that when you hit the general reply at the top of the page it takes you to the beginning. If you click reply on the last post it will take you to the last page. I'm not sure of that though. I'll have to watch closer and see if that happens every time. I like getting the last page because...well you know why...you can then go back and remind yourself of what you wanted to say.

Ruth, I had a problem after my bladder surgery. The surgery was successful but something continued to irritate. My Dr. suggested Azo and I had to use it for quite a while. yes it is expensive and you don't get a lot of tablets in the box. but if you are miserable with this problem then it is worth a try. It did take quite a while to but it was worth the money. I have been fine for several months and have stopped taking the Azo. I will keep praying for you.

Thank you Meg. I think I'm going to walmart tomorrow and will buy some while I'm there.
Now that I got further into this second of the Mark's books I'm not so sure about them

Ginny, I've looked a lot of places online but not there. Thanks for the suggestion. It's probably the best online place for those with this condition and I haven't been there yet.
It's going to be a busy summer and June is half over. There are a lot of things dh and I want to accomplish during summer. This morning found out also that my ds and his oldest daughter are visiting in early Sept so I need to get my craft room organized so that I have room to put some kind of bed in there. We have three bedrooms and one is used for my craft room and another for dh's collections so we need to make room for guests.Dh wil work on his room. Right now I have those open crate like boxes stacked and filled with yarn and they're very unstable so I can see one or more of the towers of them falling on someone. Wall space is taken up by these things and two shelving units and one dresser, and other things so that there is no bed space available. i even have my sewing machine in my living room because there's no room for it in the craft room and I cut fabric on my dining room table so things need to be repositioned definitely. It will be so great having them here. I can crochet or knit with my grandaughter. The ones that live here aren't interested in crafts. My dd's youngest daughter is just a year older than the one that is coming to visit but they have completely different interests so it's not like the two of them will get together and do things together while they are here.
I do hope you are all having a great day. I'm going to get busy in a minute doing some crafting or maybe start work on my room.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's still hot here too, I hate it! I went out today and after I was on the road I realized the Air Conditioner in my car wasn't working, no cold air. I had this looked at and serviced back in Feb, but I guess there's still a problem. I don't think my 13 year old car is worth spending more money on so I guess I need to look for a new car. I really hate the car buying process but I'm going to do a bunch of research so I'm prepared before I go in to talk to a dealership. In case any of you want to see more of the finished Solstice quilts, here's a link, so far there are 109 quilts done: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2017/06/my-solstice-top.html - Pat Sloan's quilt is at the top (the red and white one), scroll down to see others - there are two pages of pictures too. Take care everyone!

CJ, if you're going to get a new car find out what one you want then look up the Kelly Blue book price online for the specific vehicle..They have you put in the VIN. Dealers often inflate their prices. We got a used vehicle a couple years ago. Dealer's price was over $8000 but KBB price for dealers to sell the vehicle at was under $5000. At first they made excuses why the vehicle was worth more than KBB said but ended up I did get it for that. Stand your ground and don't let them take advantage of you because you're a woman. You're doing them a favor and don't let them make you feel otherwise. Also ask, if you're buying used, if the vehicle has been serviced at their dealership. If so tell them you want to see the service record. Often Carfax doesn't have all the info.
We don't have a/c in our house because the hot season is just not long enough to warrant it but I do like the ac in the cars. I don't used it often but when really needed it's a blessing.

One tired woman checking in here......
CJ- thanks for the link for the quilts, think my favorite was #75 on page 1. Sorry about your car- indeed that does happen and a 13 year old car has served you well. Hope that you can replace it without too much of an expense.
Ruth, sounds like quite a project reorganizing all your craft items and equipment so that you can accommodate company. That is usually a lot of work but well worth the effort. I found that web site looking for info if AZO would help your discomfort .Did not get an answer to that question but that web site looked helpful/
Hope that everyone is having a good day- indeed I did get some embroidery time in today. Little by little the pillowcase is getting there. GInny

Ginny, wow, you are definitely an above and beyond the call of duty friend. Thank you for looking for the Azo info and for finding the IC network site. It does indeed look very helful. I've joined and will spend some time reading all the info. So far it looks like the doctor is doing the right things.
Good job in getting some more of your pillow case done. It sure sounds like it's going to be very lovely!
Meg and Phyl, I hope you're having a good day...both of you.

Good morning, well its almost good afternoon! I came home from my silly schedule to an empty house..on a day when i did need badly to "detox".
Ruth, in my late teens i was a walking bladder infection. It seemed as though i had one every other month.....and I would have LOVED it if Azo was OTC as it is now. I outgrew the issue, thankfully. But was wondering how Azo worked, and if it would help your condition, That's how I ventured onto that web site. Lord willing you will find some good answers there, perhaps some coping strategies.
Yes, got a tiny bit more done on the pillow case....it is a peaceful way to spend my time while waiting for students. Theses days I am enjoying peaceful.
Dh just came home, so I better go. Hi To Phyl, CJ and Meg. Oh? I checked out the Mary Marks series at my library and there is only one copy of one book in the entire system (which links all libraries in the county). I decided not to take it out- as I would have had to request it from another library.
Ok, better go chat with Dh. Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later. Today I'm going to do the dreaded weed pulling.
I started one of the Harry Potter gloves dd wants me to make.Didn't get far on that. I'll finish a pair today and make another pair in the next day or two making them a little different. I don't like the way these are looking. They're ok but just not what I want them to be.
Ginny, that had to be awful to have all those UTI's in your teen years. They're so painful. Yes I hate taking Pyridium because of the orange staining but it's better than having that burning. I always got the prescription from my doctor but this one didn't give me any so I do have to get Azo which is it in otc strength.I had some samples of one that turned the urine blue instead but it had other ingredients that I can't take.I intend to stay stocked up on it just in case. I looked at walmart's online site and they have it a lot cheaper than what I saw at the store but I guess I wasn't looking at it right or else this local store doesn't have the basic Azo pain relief one. They seemed to have only the test strips for UTI and the cranberry one and the yeast one
