Good morning Ruth, Ginny, cj & Phyl, It is still morning here. This afternoon the temp. will be 93. That's when the A/C goes on.
I have not been working on a project. I have been practicing getting my edges straight when do the rows of granny stitches. I can do the rows just fine it is the edges where I go wrong. Last evening I started a baby blanket with some yarn I want to use up. I found Lion Brand Pound of love at Jo Ann's a couple of days ago for$6.99. I just bought one skein because I have so much yarn I need to use up. I did buy the yarn to start DGDs afghan. the other afghan is ready to be mailed off but I have to wait a couple of days as DGD is on a trip.
Ginny, My Dr. recommended Azo and it worked very well. I took it for several weeks about a year ago.
cj, have fun car shopping. It would be a good idea to have some one with you preferably a man.
Ruth, I hope you are feeling better today. Having family come to visit you will be fun.
Phyl, I hope you have a great day wherever you are.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Thanks so much for all who gave me advice about the car buying. I could ask a brother to go with me, but I don't want to bother them. I'll just do it on my own. I did go to two dealerships today and sat in a few cars I thought might interest me.
One I ruled out because it doesn't have a gear shift - you turn a dial to go from reverse to park, etc. I could never get used to that, I need a gear shift. A few of the cars also have this push button to start now, no more ignition to put your key in. That's very different for me too and I don't really like that. I'm kind of old fashioned and don't care about all these new conveniences on cars these days.
I am doing a lot of research on the Internet so I'll know if I'm getting a good deal or not.
Take care everyone!

hi, cj those cars without a key are called keyless starts. you don't make sure you push that button the car can still keep running. espically if you let your key lay in the car. that's why I didn't go for a new Honda pilot. with my memory at times I Would forget to push that damn button. marshal next door works for Honda. he says he has gone out to get cars and has seen them still running. that's why we bough the new gmc terrain they still make them with a key. only thing I don't like is the dash lights are in red. jeana and delona don't like the red lights either. not all gmc or buick models will have the red lights.(I hope)
I know it is hot. can you hold up for a month or two? dealers should start offering around august to make room for the newer models coming in. I don't know what size car you want gmc does make smaller cars then the terrain. I am sure not all gmc have the red lights. our church sectary traded her old pilot in for a 2014 crv because she didn't want a keyless start. shop around
it would not hurt to ask your brother for pointers. you live closer I would have don or jeana go with you. jeana should have been a boy. she has worked for a car dealers In the parts department . also a couple other car part places .one time she worked for hardley Davidson. she knows her stuff.
make a list of questions as soon as they come to you mind. take the list with you or study it so they think you know your stuff.
here is a hint don't go look and buy a car at the dealers because it is online for sale.my friend joyce's dsil did that and took her to the dealers. she bought it and within 6 months or less had a expense. can't remember what it was. it was kia and something expensive had to be replace on it every year. also don has said he would never buy a car just because of the commercial on tv. you could ask your brother for hints. my friend linda went to buy a car. her dh did not go with. then after she had it for awhile she made a remark. linda told him you should have came with me.
be careful some dealers are old school and they will say things like someone else is interested. another might be we can't get that model anymore. sometimes they can't. as you shop around you will pick up on sincere sales people and the ones who are hungry and just want to make a sale. Sadie says her mom keeps her key for the keyless start in her purse. you are looking for a use car they should start having some deals on them also.
what kind of car had the reverse button? I would not like thatt either. just wouldn't feel right to me.
one of these day(maybe not our lifetime) these younger generations will figure out the old ways are still the best In a lot of life living. phyl

CJ, I'm not at all interested in all the new things in cars either. I wouldn't want a keyless start or a push button shift. I don't need wifi in my car or any kind of internet access. I don't even listen to my radio. All I want is something reliable to get me to where I'm going and back home. I don't live in my vehicle.
Phyl, no matter what kind of car you get things can go wrong. I bought a used Kia a couple years ago and I love it. I do mostly drive my 17 year old Ford Contour now that it's running again. Yes the Kias and all those cars, like Honda's have to have the timing chain changed at regular intervals and some have to have their exhaust vales adjusted on a regular basis. Both are extremely costly. That's why people need to know about those things before they buy.Luckily the person that owned my Kia took good care of it and had that couple thousand thing done right before he traded it in so it doesn't have to be done until 50.000 more miles are put on it which will never happen in my lifetime. It was serviced where I bought it so I asked for the service record and it shows that that was done.

hi AGAIN, I didn't mean for the last post to become a novel. I can be good at that. now to bad my writing skills are not good enough for me to be a novelist and write a best seller.lol growing up I was always going to write horse and dog stories. to bad I didn't pay attention in school about pronouncation and etc and go onto collage.. sigh. oh well I guess the lord has me where he wants me.
yesterday we were busy. instead of bumin with delona I bumed with don. first had to rob the bank(payday) then the clinic and don finally got his direct advancement finalize then lunch at the wine guys.,(no, no whine, to early in the day)not big drinkers we had salad bar and 1/2 prime rib sandwich. came home for a little while. then the grocery store.
Margie stopped by. left a card for me to give to don on sunday. she wanted some ruhbarb.so don cut her some. I had don cut me some. last night I made don's mom's recipe of rosey red rhubab dessert. boy is there a lot of sugar in that.
well I knitted on the bb again. I am up to doing the last part. seed stitch again. doesn't look right.you know pl 1 k1 across the row k1 and p1 on the next row.can't remember if I did my own style of ribbing ki ,pi each row.
time to sign off. think this is 1/2 of a novel. lol phyl

we had our pilot for 16 years and the timing chain never had to be replace. fact I think newer cars don't have timing chains anymore. they have something else. every so often we had to get a new fuel pump.
little hannah is here and want to work on her pillowslip. phyl

cj.Have you checked consumer reports? they might have a copy at your local library. Phyl is quite right if you an wait until about September you will find that the 2017 models are on sale as the dealers want to make room for the 2018 models coming in.I have a Honda CRV and I am going to drive it until it dies or I do. Car cost so much and I would like to see you get a good deal.
Phyl, if I have to buy a car I would take you. You know your way around . I didn't know that they have a lot of push button stuff on cars now. I think that would confuse me. I have always driven an automatic.
Now I am off to listen to a book and crochet.

Meg, I hope you can get your edges the way you want them.I know you've been practicing and again, I wish I was there to help
I'm beginning to feel like a hoarder. I've been working on my craft room because I don't want to leave it till the last minute and I just have way too much yarn. I got more today. I really have to start crocheting and knitting even more to use some. I know I'll use it thought because I have so many projects in mind. I keep finding more and more so I need to stop looking at various sites and make the ones I already have ideas for.Oh and I keep my clothing in there too and I have way too much clothing also.
Today my dh got the backpacks he ordered. I have no idea at all why he wanted to buy backpacks. I may have mentioned this before but I still have no idea.I know he wants to keep a bag ready in case we would have to leave the house fast such as a fire or something but we already have bags. Oh well just more stuff to add to our "stuff".
I hope you're all having a good evening. Looks like rain here but it probably won't actually rain but you never know.I have to take a break from the room for the evening but tomorrow when I work on it again I'm going to get rid of some more of my craft stuff. I don't need to have that many rolls of ribbon. I rarely use ribbon. I have about a dozen packs of pipe cleaners in all sizes and colors. I rarely use those either. In all the time I've had the crohooks that ddil gave me that belonged to her mother, I've never used them so while dgd is here I should teach her how to use them and send them all home with her then she can teach her sisters. They were from her grandmother after all.Of course, even though they have a very large home they don't have room for a lot of things either. With 10 people in the family it's probably a real test of space just to find space for everyone's clothing. But at least if they don't want the things they can donate to their church or something
See you all later. Back to crocheting
Thanks Meg. I didn't know they had so many Azo's until I looked online. I just want the one you used..the plain pain relief one

meg the cars with the keyless starts are still automatic. you still have a shift. don and I had looked at a new pilot. the saleman told us some stuff.at home I would ask don about what the saleman said said and he woudl explain it over. plus stuff I Have read. at first don didn't think they would still berunning. that's when marshall said yes he has gone out to get cars and they
here's a good one for today. don went over to see skippy our neighbor. skippy had been painting his fence. he heard a noise and his truck was running. skippy couldn't figure it out. don said where is the key? the key was In skippy's pocket. don told him the truck had to be locked. skippy didn't think It was. it was. don told him it would stop In ten minutes.it did.
when Margie stopped yesterday she kept her truck running so it wouldn't get hot . inside. as we are talking on the driveway it did stop. we can even start the terrain or margie can start her truck with our smartphones. think we only did it twice. there are cars Subaru and jeep are two of them if you go off the road a little bit it will steer itself. there are cars if you get to close to the car In front of you it will use the brakes.
delona nd rudy have a friend who drives a jeep and has a a/c sterring wheel. I was floored on that one.
tecology is getting to far ahead of itself In my book. phyl

I agree with you there Phyl. I for sure wouldn't want those brakes or that auto steering. What is something went wrong which it's bound to sometime and it braked you on ice and you spun off the road or into another car. What if it steers you the wrong way. Technology has sure been known to fail then what.

I was going to say good morning then I realized it's afternoon even here now, so good afternoon Phyl, the patterns and the kit you bought sound really nice and the owl one very cute. You're going to be busy. Yes we all ask ourselves why are we buying more when we already have plenty of our craft supplies. But it just shows that we love our crafts. As to the weight gain we all have times like that and, as you said, we then just have to get more serious and look at where the extra calories are coming from and decide if they're healthy calories and if not cut them down. I don't really believe in giving up something you like becuase then you'll be craving it. Sometimes, though, I do have to cut certain things because I know I can't stop at having a small portion. My weight's up a little this week too but I'm still 6 below my personal goal so I'm ok with it but I don't want the gaining to continue. I'll be being careful also It's Father's Day weekend but my dh never likes to go out to eat anyway so won't be doing that. He'll hear from the kids and that's about all. Maybe I'll make him a carrot cake..his favorite or maybe his favorite cheesecake. Since it's finish it Friday I wove (weaved?) in the ends on the gloves I made yesterday and the "blanket of many colors". Actually it was just 4 colors. Today is the first time I'm seen it spread out and I have to say that it's really pretty.I should have done the corners in the edging differently but it was an experiment and the corners do pull up just a little but it will be ok. I think ends are done on most of my current projects but I still have ends to weave in on a stack of hats but no hurry on that and also on some baby blankets that will be donated too.I'll get the hats and blankets done before fall. so anyway, 3 grandchildren's blankets done for the great grands here and onl the way so only 11 more to go and some of the grands are very young so it will be awhile before they'll be having children anyway. I have to contact the woman I'm sending the donating blankets to also. I forget the name of the organization.I could use them to save for grands but I won't. I've already promised them to donate...not to anyone else...the promise that is...but to myself.when I made them that was the purpose. Ok now I guess I'll go and do some actual work of some kind. Have a fantastic day and I look forward to hearing from all of you later

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. Thanks to all of you for your information and guidance on the new cars, I really appreciate your thoughts. I don't even have a smartphone so I sure don't need any fancy features on my car The car that has the button to change gears was the Ford Fusion. I really liked a lot about that car, but I could never get used to a car without a gear shift. I also looked at the Ford Taurus and might end up purchasing one of those. It just seemed like a bigger car than I need, but if I didn't like it after a few years, I could always trade it in. The Taurus does have that push button start, so I'd have to get used to that. I wish I could wait until later in the year to buy, but with the really hot weather I'd only have my other car - a 2003 Hyundai Sonata that was my father's car - to drive. That car has a problem with water leaking in around the trunk so I keep a cover on it most of the time and couldn't drive it when it's raining. My car, with the AC problems, is a 2004 Buick Century and I have really loved this car. I'll hate to give it up, but I really think it's time. Phyl - I hope you enjoy those patterns. I've traced the Hole in the Barn, but still need to embroider it. Ruth - I'm sure your DH will enjoy whatever dessert you make for him for Father's Day Meg - Hope you enjoyed your crocheting and book Ginny - Hope you're doing well Take care everyone!

CJ, I don't have a smart phone either. I don't have any of those modern tech things actually. Just finally got a laptop 2 years ago. I think I was the last person on earth to have dialup for my internet so I sure don't need modern things in my car.I don't talk on a phone much anyway so don't need to talk or text while in my car.
Back in the day I used to get all Chrysler products but my father worked for GM and I could get a discount so I started getting GM products.I could still get the discount but last few cars have been Fords. The only thing I don't like about Fords is that you have to take that stupid satellite radio. They give you a free year then you have to pay. I'd never listen to it so why would I want to pay the extra over $200 cost for that radio. My Ford Contour of course has a radio and a cassette player. My Kia has a radio that plays cassettes and dvds I still have cassettes but I never listen to them.I've never even turned on the radio on the Kia so in actuallity I don't even know for sure that it works.
