CJ, I hate all the hassle of buying a car too. I'd procrastinate as long as possible.
Phyl I'm glad you had a good time at the party. Sounds like a good family.I'm really sad about Linda. And kind of upset that not many had anything to say on that thread that told of her passing but better to not post if they aren't sincere.

hi, yes it is sad about linda. I know some people stop posting for a long time. then they are gone. sometimes I can remember the person sometimes not. I like to think some don't post but might say a prayer for the person. sometimes posters just don't know what to say so they don't.
don stopped doing work on our cars years ago. because of his neck. he decided he was to old to be getting under cars. he even has a creeper and won't go under with that.
yes to many gadgets on cars now.phyl

Happy Fathers Day, Today I am staying home. The high temp today will be 108 so my A/C is keeping us cool. It is quiet hereso I will listen to my book and work on my b/blanket.
cj, buying a car is a big decision and I wish you had someone to go with you. Perhaps if you relax for a few days it will help you to make a decision.
Phyl, there you go again, off having a good time. I am glad you have so many friends.
Ruth, I would love to see your cup cake purse. I am sure the little girl who recurves it will love it. I don't think I was ever on a thread with Linda but I did see her name on many threads over the years, It is always sad when we loose one of our posters.
Linda I hope you are having a wonderful fathers day with your DH.I will check back later.

That is true, Phyl. Some people don't know what to say so they say nothing. Linda was on the board for at least 10 years. I know she was there in 2006 so actually 11 years if not more.I know she was there then because a friend of mine had cancer and she started a grieving thread. That was definitely in 2006. Linda came to it for awhile but then when people started mentioning all the people they knew that died Linda said it was too depressing. I was a member of her red mixer recipe group for years. she had a lot of healthy recipes that she posted there and on the recipe review board.
Meg, I sure hope it doesn't get to 108 here. Since we have no A/C dh has a plan to freeze bottles of water and have fans blowing over them to cool us off if it gets too hot. Anyway Meg stay inside and stay hydrated.
I started a pair of crochet cable fingerless gloves last night. I've never done a crochet cable before. It's interesting and it's complicated but it works. It consists of front and back post dc's and front and back post treble crochets and you also have to do crossed stitches with the fptc . Then in the next row you have to dc into "the next stitch" which ends up being the curved stitches that you crossed.I woulld have never known what stitch to go into but I tried it and that was the correct one. I was amazed.I've been wasting my time for the last couple hours so I need to get back to working on that.
Meg, I'll have to see if I can take a picture of the cupcake purse. If I can take one with my tablet and figure out how to get it to my email I'll email it to you.. It's not completely done because I have to wait for my beads to arrive because you put two beads on the drawstring which really makes a good finish to the purse. The big bead acts in holding the drawstring closed and the little one is for decoration

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there!!
Sorry about Linda- it does sound as though you have lost a friend on the boards. I tried to find reference to her, but could not.
Phyl- it was very kind of you to reach out to the daughter who suffers from mental illness. So much is treatable these days, but there is still so much more for doctors to learn about our brains. I pray that she finds effective treatment that she will take.
CJ- we all get it. Buying a new car is a hassle....and at times the details never seem to end. Take care of that when the time is right for you or when you absolutely have to. Fortunately you have some family not too far away, who can assist with transportation in an emergency. How are you holding up in this warm muggy weather?
Ruth, the cupcake purse sounds absolutely adorable! WHo will be the lucky recipient of it?
Meg- stay inside, stay safe. Did Devin get home ok?
Got to church this am...then spent the pm getting caught up on bills and paperwork. I am proud to say that at least until tomorrows mail arrives, I am pretty much caught up. As busy as work was in the past 3 weeks it was hard to keep up with the mail- I let it pile up.
No crafting today.....all our kids were here to wish Dh a happy Father's Day, so he had a good day. Hard to believe I have to go to work tomorrow am.
Have a blessed evening all Ginny

Ginny, yes those pesky bills.. one of our burdens in life. They do take up time to keep track of them all and make sure everything is paid. And yes, the weekend sure went by fast. I bet it felt like it went faster to you than it did the rest of us.
Did enough rows on my glove to do the pattern part THEN I decided to try it around my wrist. It was way too big so I took it all out and chained 4 less stitches. They call for beginning and ending each row with 11 stitches of hdc and dc alternated by row. So I'm doing 9 at each end instead and now it fits great. I said it was complicated, well it seems complicated but it's really easy, esp if you guess correctly on which stitch they're talking about Again with this pattern it's obvious she made a typo in the one row. She said to do a fpdc where there is a cluster of fptc's and she said to do a fptc where it shouldl have been a fpdc...she just put those two stitches in the wrong places in her sentence. These people need to proofread but then again the pattern is free so can't complain. She has the pattern on a blog too and that one is worse. At least for the pdf, which I have, she fixed a couple things...not mistakes but things that didn't make sense.
I also wove in the ends in my fuzzy pink and white baby blanket. I think I mentioned that I was going to put more edging on with some other fuzzy yarn I have but found that the whites didn't match so I went ahead and got the ends weaved in instead so now that's all done. I've actually finished so many things since I've been on this thread and have you all inspiring me to finish things. Esp CJ calling Fridays finish it Friday. Well I don't get all my things finished on Fridays but I do get them done now.
Ginny, the cupcake purse is for my youngest grandaughter Stephanie who will be six at the end of August. She's the one that said "my grandma really loves me because she always ends me money ( I had never sent her money before) and her house is made of ice cream. I know I shared that before but I just had to do it again. Little ones do say the cutest things.
