Good Morning Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 23 pts. We walked 3.6 mi for our Sunday breakfast out. I did 13 mins of PT exercises before dinner 🥳.
Jan HH Challenge: - Evening: Snack on Inspo; Read quotes, whys and goals 💚
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: 💚 - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
In my other former WW group they’re doing a January HH challenge. I read through the weekly WW technique, about making a STAR goal, with an open mind, and really reflected on it, even though I’ve heard the explanation many times. I want to stop eating/snacking after dinner, and to have no sugar or salted snacks. When I snack and eat these things, it too often turns into compulsive eating. But the article points out that it’s better to make a positive goal about what I WILL do, instead of what NOT to do, and to think of what might interfere with my intention and how to deal with it. So I decided that when DH gets up to have his evening snack, and if I get the urge to eat sugar or salted snacks, I’ll read from my quotes, why’s and goals I have saved in my phone. I like to read. Reading inspires me, reminds me of what’s important, and gives me motivation. So I’m leveraging those positives in this HH goal. Also, at that time of day I’m not actually hungry for food - I’m just lacking something to fill the voids. The things I read are a better way to fill the voids.
In the WW app last night I did “Quick Add” and pre-tracked my evening snack as: “Read quotes, whys, and goals” for 0 pts.” And I did it - I snacked on inspo 🤗🙏
Yesterday I returned the shoes that hurt DH’s feet and the new shoes arrived - they look pretty much the same as the old ones. 🤞
I fell sideways getting up off my exercise mat last night and pulled something on the top of my foot. It was OK until 1 am or so, then it was throbbing. I took 2 Advil and finally got back to sleek. This am it seems good enough to walk.
Last week I had 17.3 mi, and I did 5/7 days of PT exercises for 63 total minutes 🥳.
KELLY - GFY with the 9 mi including shoveling snow and taking down the Christmas decs. Glad you had a relaxing weekend. Did Leroy go to church also? Is he getting more mobile?
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!!
I added 2.5 miles mostly WATPs. Fast is going well.
Was a crazy day at work short staffed to start due to a call-off, 1 staff off on medical leave, and other was her regular day off. We did eventually get some help but the 1st hour or 2 was overwhelming. Unfortunately the medical assistant they sent who is actually a patient of ours was having some respiratory sx and she was tested and at the end of her shift results came back positive for COVID. She had tested negative at home. She was more concerned about RSV as she had an exposure to that. She did wear a mask all day. Hopefully, no staff will be effected. That would be horrible if our help for already being short-staffed made the staff we had sick.
Cait: Awesome job with your HHs and your tracking “Read quotes, whys, and goals” for 0 pts.” Awesome stats from last week.
Glad your fall was not serious and hope your foot will not give you any trouble.
Yes Leroy went to Church. He is doing very well with using the rolling walker to get around. He only uses the wheelchair at home when he needs to carry things from one place to another. He should start some flexion 33 degrees this week with the therapist.
Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!

TUESDAY!
CAIT -- thanks for the WW idea to incorporate things you already like to do in with your goals. That would make things more doable, for sure. Sorry about the shoes! It is so frustrating, isn't it? I have little duck feet (6 1/2 W), and I gave up shoe shopping years ago, so now I only order online. I have made my peace with returns, and I'm not shy about ordering the same shoes in different sizes and returning ill-fitting ones. Before we went to Europe the last time, I think I ordered 8! pairs of sandals before finding a pair I thought I could walk in all day. Good job with your HHs!
KELLY -- good for you WATP 8 miles, shoveling, and un-decorating on your own! I hope your DH is recovering without incident!
We are having cold, snowy weather, so I haven't gone to the gym/pool yesterday and today. I just finished a band routine, and I stretched. Sunday I went to water class and stretched in the pool.

Good Morning!!
Up early and on computer as I have work meeting on Teams similar to Zoom.
Yesterday I added 2 mile WATP. It rained all day and pretty heavy at times.
Carol: God job on your home workouts when you can't get to the gym.
DH is doing well.

DH’s new shoes are working out well. DH and I have taken pretty much all the Christmas things upstairs. Now I need to box them up and get them in the attic.
CAROL - GFY with the band workout and stretching, and water class and stretching. I can only imagine the snowy cold weather - here DH complains about our coldest mornings this winter here in SoCal - low 40’s and sunny 🤪. It gets up into 60’s. This from a guy who grew up in rural western NJ!
KELLY - GFY getting in the 2.5 mi Mon and 2 mi WATP yesterday. Glad your fast is going well. Wow I hope the staff will stay healthy. Such a bad risk. I’m so glad Leroy is able to get out and get around, and more use and probably PT will be coming soon.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!!!
I had a nice day off yesterday.
I added a 5 mile WATP. I thought about an outside walk but very cold and very windy. I don't mind a brisk walk when it is cold but the wind was too much.
Cait: Awesome job on your Monday and Tuesday. Good job getting your Christmas things down. I still have my snowmen up they brighten the dark cold winters.
I would love a low of 40s and temps in 60s during the day. 32 degrees this morning and the high is projected to be 48.

It was a morning office day, things took longer than planned and I didn’t bring my lunch. I got caught up, finally finished and went to Trader Joe’s after 4 pm for some of our staples, and had a wrap and an apple.
I’m glad we aren’t up north or in Midwest or East - DH complains enough about our morning temps in the 40’s and 50’s. That’s about the extent of cold in SoCal, although it’s very windy. We should get rain in winter but not much happening.
KELLY - GFY with the 5 mi WATP on your day off.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Yesterday I had an online work meeting at 1:30 and other things that I was focused on, and I forgot I had a blood draw appt in the early am. This am I got up at 5:30 am and was at the lab as a “walk in” when they opened at 6 am. I was back home by 6:30! I thought there would be a line at the door, but I was the only one waiting when they opened.
KELLY - GJ with the 2 mi WATP. Your church members do a good job with the senior inclusion activities.

TGIFRIDAY! CAIT -- 40° sounds like beach weather! You know, you've done a lot better with your PT lately -- WTG! Can you tell a difference? KELLY -- I'm glad Leroy is getting good care, although it sounds like it will be a long haul! GFY getting 2 miles of walking/WATP in each day. Hope your work mates can stay healthy; we have quite a lot of COVID going around here, and for many folks it's their first time. They are very bummed after being rather arrogant (I say this about one of my good friends ) BRRRR! We are in the deep freeze, for sure! We have gotten probably 9" of snow the last few days, and the projected high for Sunday is 0°! I don't even want to think about the wind chill! But, like everyone says -- and it's true -- we really do need the moisture. Anyway, my trips to the gym/pool have lessened considerably. I did go to water class Thursday and stretched, but I decided not to swim laps today. Instead, I did a band workout, dance video, and stretching. I'm counting 2 miles. Have a great weekend everyone! 89/250 miles 36/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan: 6/31

Tracking builds awareness. Awareness changes my thinking, values, behavior, and willingness. Awareness->Acceptance->Action “Fact: People who track their food more often lose more weight. So, how do you get yourself to track more? Make it just another part of your routine—like brushing your teeth, pouring a morning coffee, or checking your email.” Here’s the “3 Fast Facts” Here’s the full article www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/how-to-build-a-tracking-routineCAROL - GJ with the water class Thurs, band and dance WO’s and stretching. Re the PT - I notice that I feel more fit when I do them, and have less soreness when I do them regularly. I don’t know that I’d venture out in those temps! (She said as she sat outside in 60 F or higher, in the sun…..). Sorry for you, but so grateful to be here! I talked to someone yesterday who’s visiting from Iowa and he was just amazed at the weather. Long Beach CA was once known as “Iowa by the Sea” because of all the immigrants in the early 1900’s. They used to have big reunions in the parks here. Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

Good Morning Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 1 snack, used 25 pts. We walked 2.7 mi after breakfast, went through the Famemers Market but didn’t see anything we needed, went to pick up takeout lunch. I did 14 mins of PT exercises before dinner 🥳.

I sat outside in front after our walk, enjoying the sun and watching people walk by.
Sis is supposed to come for a visit this coming Thurs for 10 days but yesterday she texted that she might have to cancel. Then she called and clarified that she will probably come, just a small chance she might get an early date for carpal tunnel surgery. She’s been having a lot of pain, and she’s had several carpal tunnel and trigger finger surgeries before. She said she just discovered that they make left handed computer mouse devices! 🤷♀️ I never knew that she didn’t know! I’m right handed but I would have assumed that long ago, and there she was struggling. 😫 But I guess it’s just a human thing, to adjust to, and put up with, what you have. I know I’ve done that in other ways.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!!
I added 2 mile WATP and only 1 mile of stepping in place last evening.
Leroy is back in hospital. His incision opened up first thing yesterday morning. The tendon did not heal and there is no fixing it. They took him to the ER to clean the wound out and packed it with sponge and attached a wound vac. He will go back to operating room tomorrow. to have the are assessed. If the wound won't heal he could possibly end up with an above knee amputation. Regardless he will be stuck in brace and need a mobility devices moving forward. He did have an US of both legs that showed good blood flow so that is positive.
Of course due to that we missed our 55+ event.
So thankful for family, friends, and Church family lifting us up in prayer.
Cait: Good job on your good days with HHs, miles and PT. Tracking does definitely make you more aware.
Carol: Good job on your workouts. COVID, Flu, RSV have been high here. Many have had there 1st bout of COVID here too, of course I say that they know of. I say that because unless they tested every time they had respiratory symptoms or had a direct exposure they truly can not claim it.
We are going to have cold weather this week. Some days it will be in the 20's Been very windy. They are calling for possible snow on Tuesday and Friday.

Good Afternoon Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 21 pts. We walked 3.6 mi for our Sunday breakfast out. After lunch I went to the Antique Mall and Home Depot and walked another .4 mi, so 4.0 mi for the day.
Jan HH Challenge: - Evening: Snack on Inspo; Read quotes, whys and goals 💚
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
Saturday I got most of the Christmas stuff into the attic. Sunday we hung the wall decor I had gotten framed, and moved preexisting things. They look really nice and make the place look much more homey, but there’s still a lot more to be done. Still a lot of naked walls upstairs, and we need bedroom chairs. And I got more things from the Antique Mall that need to be framed.
Today for MLK Day I joined a citywide “Day of Service” and was sent to a tree planting project. We planted 20 trees native to this area - 19 Toyons and 1 Coastal Live Oak. My 3-person team only planted one tree. We had the driest, rockiest spot of all. We dug a hole and hit a large rock slab so we had to fill it in and dig another hole, but we got it done! The project leaders encourage each team to name their tree and come back periodically to check on it. We named ours “Rocky” 🤣.
KELLY - Wow - so sorry about Leroy and the incision. Glad he has good blood flow. Sending prayers. Hope the surgery went well today and he is healing “for good”! GFY getting in the WATP and 1 mi stepping in place, and the 2 mi Sunday. Your office doesn’t close for MLK day?
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.
