Yesterday I got up at 1 am to attend my cousin’s memorial event in Singapore online. Wasn’t sure I’d be able to but I woke up automatically at 10 mins to 1. It was very moving and I’m so glad I did.
Today is DHs bday and we’re planning to go to lunch. I went out yesterday afternoon and got him peanut butter chocolate cupcakes - such a lucky “find”! I had gotten us some unusual salads at the farmers market as a treat, but I suddenly realized what he’d want was special sugar treats - Duh! My brain - not on the right wave length. It was too late for the bakery where I usually get peanut butter and chocolate cookies for him so I tried a local cupcake place one friend always gets gift boxes from, and they had 4 peanut butter choc cupcakes! Perfect! DH had one for dessert and loved it.
My Sis is arriving tomorrow and I’m trying to set up a few plans for her to see my DDs and our nieces and nephews this weekend.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!! I added a 5 mile WATP yesterday. Went to visit Leroy yesterday. They did not do surgery yesterday. Seemed to get different stories of the why. On Tuesday they took his insulin pump from him because some nurse said he could not manage his insulin pump that he has been managing for for at least 15 years. So they called his endocrinologist who really does know him as she is new to him and she said to take from him. So all afternoon, evening, and most of yesterday his blood sugar was in the 200s to above 400s. No one would listen when I questioned when visited yesterday, blamed it on endocrinologist who said to take it. When I responded why she ordered that " I dont know nothing about that". Ugh, so last night I called and spoke to a manager and they did make some changes to insulin dosing. It finally came down. Actually, low this morning and they had to give him some glucose in his IV. Hopefully, he will get to the OR. I can not for the life of me why a medically trained person would think it was ok to leave his blood sugars that high. When I visited yesterday they took his blood sugar around 11-1130, they gave him his lunch tray an hour later, now mind you he did keep his Dexcom on that tells his blood sugar and it was at least 100 points higher. After he ate the nurse comes in to give insulin based on the blood sugar at 11-1130. I spoke up and they ignored us. I was so scared he was going to go into Diabetic Ketoacidosis and also what damage it was doing to his wound and his eye with sugars being so high.
After I left the hospital I went to Walmart and picked up a few things and last night we had an Encounter night at Church with Amber Twigg. She is so funny and gave a power word. I almost wasn't gonna go but so glad I did.
Cait: Good job on another good day. Happy Birthday to your DH. Glad you were able to attend the online memorial service. Waking up was definitely a God wink. Enjoy your time with your sis. Waving to all!! Happy walking!! WATP/EX: 156.50Tracker miles:266.45 2024 WATP/EX miles:44 Tracker Miles:64.85

Thursday!
Oh, my! I've been slacking off, for sure! It was so dangerously cold here that we didn't leave the house until a couple of days ago.
KELLY -- Leroy is lucky to have you looking out for him, his wound, and his blood sugar! I'm so sorry he (and you) are facing this rough patch, but how nice that you have your church family nearby. I am praying that his glucose levels get sorted out and that he can keep his leg.
CAIT -- "rocky" is too funny! Have fun with your sister and the visits!
I last posted last Friday, so I need to catch up a little. I have been back to water class twice (yesterday and today), and I've done a couple of band workouts, and I've stretched. The pool area is terrible! They had to turn the fan off because it was bringing in air that was too cold and freezing the pipes. Consequently, the chlorine haze is intolerable! I had my eyes closed as much as I was able. I hope to swim laps tomorrow, and I'm hopeful that the goggles will help my eyes some. We are expecting more snow and cold, though, so I may bag those plans and find a dance video to do.

Yesterday Sis arrived mid day. I did 5/6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 🧡 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 41 pts. DH and I walked 2.2 mi before breakfast.

Wed DH and I walked in the am and then walked to his bday lunch - the first place wasn’t what we wanted so we walked further to another place that our friends like, and it was great! We got in 5.6 mi for the day. DH was so full and knackered he slept all afternoon!
Yesterday in the afternoon Sis and I went out a bit, got some special foods. The 3 of us went out to dinner at Tequila Jack’s.

Good Afternoon,
I added a 2 mile WATP yesterday.
Leroy had his surgery yesterday. They said everything looked good so they decided to close the incision. Hoping he gets to come home this weekend.
Snowing today. I did shovel and hopefully won't have too much more accumulation.
Cait: Great job on all your miles and overall good days.
Enjoy your time with your Sis.
Carol: Good job on your consistent workouts. Hope the pool gets in a more comfortable condition. I know you enjoy the workouts and swimming laps.
Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!

TGIFRIDAY!
CAIT -- sounds like you're having a nice time with your sister. Yay! Fun, too, finding a new place within walking distance that both you and DH can enjoy. Good job with your HHs, too, especially JGTB with your sister there! My sisters and I used to stay up yakking for hours! I miss that, actually.
KELLY -- hope all is well with Leroy (and you, too, of course). {{{{hugs}}}}
I had a great report at the doctor's yesterday -- she's very pleased with my blood work, as am I. Now, if the cardiologist is pleased in February, I will be absolutely giddy!
The weather turned extra cold again, so the streets are super icy. I decided not to go to the pool today, so I did a dance video (1 mile) and I stretched. I may do another video this afternoon to get my 2 miles in, but if I do I'll come back and log it later.
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Yesterday I walked alone before breakfast. Then DH, Sis and I went to the antique mall and got a few things, looked at two paintings I was interested in. We went to lunch at a brewery restaurant on the ocean. We sat outside, had a great view. It was a little cool but not too bad. I ate the salted snacks in the evening but at least I stopped and did JGTB.
KELLY - GJ with the 2 mi WATP and .5 mi snow shoveling Tues, 5 mi WATP Wed, and 2 mi WATP and snow shoveling Thurs. Wow that hospital experience with the insulin pump and glucose is horrifying. I’m so glad Leroy’s second surgery went well and he’s coming home this weekend. This has been such a rough period for you two. You’re handling it so well 🤗🙏. Sending healing vibes and prayers.
CAROL - GFY with the water class, band workout, stretching and dance video, and hooray for the good results at the doctor’s! It’s so nice when the feedback is positive. My Sis is dealing with jet lag and having trouble sleeping due to pain in her hands. She’s scheduled for carpal tunnel surgery when she get home. Then a few weeks later surgery on the other hand. But we’re enjoying our time.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

To build our meals around a centerpiece of protein, vegs and fruit - then add and smaller servings of starchy foods and fats. Make our meals and snacks filling, satisfying, within our “budget,” and cover all the nutrient bases by the end of the day. “…having a template that guides you toward satisfying combinations (and a few go-to meals and snacks that fit the bill) can help—and keep you on track. . . . . Protein and fiber keep you fuller longer because they digest slowly. So building meals on a base of foods high in those two nutrients means you’re less likely to overeat later.”Here’s the “3 Fast Facts” And the article: www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/how-to-build-a-satisfying-meal-2023Sis and I went out in the rain in the am to meet up with our nephew Zach at a local park and watch his younger son playing rugby. His older son was there too, for a later game. My DDs and family were coming over so we picked up food on the way back. DD2 was already at our place playing pool with DH. She had to leave early. Later DD1 and family arrived and stayed for quite a while. In the evening Sis and I went to a local theater to see “Mystic Pizza,” a musical based on the movie, full of fun 80’s music “Hold on for one more day,” “Girls just want to have fun,” “Never gonna let you go,” Addicted to love,” “Into the mystic,” “Take my breath away,” “When I see you smile,” “Nothing’s gonna stop us now,” and more. We have more plans for today but Sis isn’t up yet, so we’ll see….. Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

Monday, Monday!
KELLY -- so happy Leroy was able to come home! Here's hoping for a successful recovery!
CAIT -- Sounds like a good time with your sister and other family around! I feel sorry for your sister; I've had 3 carpal tunnel surgeries (obviously one was a do-over 30 years after the first), and I remember being wakened at night, too. Enjoy your visit!
I did a band workout on Saturday and went to a water class Sunday (3 miles, total), and I stretched. The extra-cold weather is finally breaking, so it will be easier for me to get out and do something! If I do a dance video or something later, I'll come back to post.
Have a good week!

It’s huge. I’d arranged to meet a man there who was selling a painting I found online. I bought it and a couple of things in the flea market. Then we went to the beach towns where we grew up, walked along the “Strand” beach walkway and had lunch at an outdoor cafe by the beach where I used to take Mom. The waves were impressive. We both spontaneously said “OOOHHHH!” in unison when we crested the hill above the beach 🤣. Here in Long Beach where we live there’s a breakwater, so not much wave action. Then we visited our brother’s other two kids and saw those 6 great nieces and nephew. All in all a heartwarming day. ♥️ Sis is leaving today to go to our brother’s in the desert. We’ll follow on Friday and spend the weekend. She returns home to MS Monday. KELLY - GFY with the 7 mi Fri-Sun. No matter what’s going on you make it happen. Yay for Leroy coming home Sat! I’m sure he rested better at home than in the hospital. I’m assuming the cast is the best approach to avoid ruptures and support his leg while he’s healing? Would it have helped if they’d done that before? What do you think led to the ruptures? CAROL - GJ with the water class and band WO and stretching. You’re very determined. Good Morning!!
Yesterday I did a 2 mile WATP a new one to me with Rocky lots of dance moves. It was fun.
Today would be Ricky's 31st Birthday. He would be so excited about his Ravens.
Taking Leroy to the see the diabetes educator for pump recertification and to the family doctor for a hospital follow-up appt. Tomorrow we see the orthopedics and the retina doctor.
Cait: Sounds like an awesome time. Beautiful picture. Not sure about the cast but they had mentioned it from the beginning and said it wouldnt like it, but it is way better than having to readjust a brace multiple times a day. I think the incision opening up and the tendon repair not holding is more due to diabetes. The initial rupture most likely was attributed to the steroid injections for his knee pain.
I love flea markets. I am sure you got yourself right back on track with your HHs and walking.
Carol: You are doing good with staying consistent with your workouts.
Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!
