Hi everyone! I forgot my gym bag this morning, so no gym for me I'm just not in the habit of doing it, and it's ridiculously cold right now, so that just makes me want to hibernate. irisinnia, I'm doing Momentum. That's what works best for me. I prefer making my own salad dressing with oil, lemon juice or vinegar, salad seasoning and honey or preserves. Sometimes I add dijon mustard too. I keep my salads super simple with greens, shredded carrot and cucumber. I top with sunflower seeds, hemp hearts and sometimes croutons. I add sliced kalamata olives and feta on the side (for the picky eaters in my family). My kids are always eating, so I've become immune to their snacking. DH, on the other hand, is a different story! Hope everyone is doing well!

wwlurker, there was a really good old WW recipe for a sweet salad dressing that used fat free vanilla yogurt, a little apple cider vinegar and poppy seeds. I remember making it a lot because it added that little bit of sweetness without it being over done. Now, with the lower sugar yogurts, I'm sure it's even better

Good morning
Monalisa, welcome! I have 60 pounds to lose. Everyone is very supportive here.
wwlurker, I bet it is cold where you live. It is pretty cold here too. Sorry about the gym bag.
irisinnia and cj59 thanks for mentioned the Beck Diet Solution. I was trying a sample on my Kindle and ended up ordering the book. I really think it will help.
Went to a WW meeting this morning. Sunday was closed due to the snow.

Hello Everyone monalisa77 - Welcome to the thread, and the board. There are a lot of wonderful supportive people posting here wwlurker and irisinnia - thanks for your thoughts on Momentum and Points Plus. I know I should just stick with Momentum, since I know it so well and it worked for me. I've just fallen into that diet trap where I'm looking for something better. I'm a pretty boring, plain eater My salads just have iceberg lettuce, carrots and broccoli. I like to put grilled chicken in them and then I use Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. I do like Kraft FF Catalina dressing if I can find it in the store, but I'm not much for homemade dressings. DotRen - thanks for sharing that salad dressing recipe, it does sound like something I would like if I tried it. sunrose - I'm glad you are trying the Beck book. Just incorporating some of those practices has made me much more mindful about how I eat and how I think of food. A couple times when I was doing it full time, I even forgot to eat a meal! I couldn't believe I was so busy doing other things I forgot about food, I hope I can get back to that mindset. I'm still working on keeping up with healthy habits each day, even though I am still overeating on some junk food. I think by next week the Beck group I'm in starts the actual dieting so I've been goofing off until that time. I know that's a bad way to think, because every day is a new day and a new start, but maybe this will give me a start date and get me on track. Take care everyone!

Good morning! I'm down to 5 WPs left for the week. This is day 5 for me. I ended up eating too much last night. I need to work on making a rule that I don't eat at night while I'm relaxing. I never felt like I needed to do that before, but it's becoming a problem. DotRen, that dressing recipe sounds good! sunrose49, it's basically been -20 (Celsius) with the windchill for the past week and a half or so. Way too cold! cj59, I've joined the BBR group here. I think that a little focus and introspection on my weight will be a good thing for me mentally. Hope everyone is doing well!

sunrose49, I'm so glad you got the book. It's been super helpful for me so I hope it helps you too! They have a Beck thread on here under Food and Diet if you ever want to pop by. I think they start a new review three times a year (March, July, and November I think but don't quote me on that ) cj59, I've fallen into the trap of looking for a shiny new diet when I know the one I have in front of me works. I just want to think it's the program when it's the limiting the food that's the hard part. You're smart to stick to your program and your healthy habits! wwlurker, That's rough when the snacking hits those WP's. I was once in the negative on day 2, and that's when I learned to pre-track new foods. lol Good for you for identifying the problem time of day. That's a big step. My friend told me I looked like I was losing weight on the same day the scale went up 3 lbs. lol I'm doing really good since I started tracking in the morning; even though I'm adding and subtracting things constantly throughout the day. I said "I'm hungry" to myself this morning, but then I was like "I had a really big breakfast, my stomach doesn't feel empty and I don't feel light-headed or headache-y like I do when I get really hungry, so why am I telling myself this?" I realized it was because I was stressed from having to take care of some paperwork this morning. I talked myself down after it, like "that wasn't that bad, you're okay, etc." but I still felt agitated when I got home and started looking for food! So I decided to sit down and take a break instead. I'm glad I didn't give in to gobbling empty calories!

Good morning! Last night I went over again with the snacking. I'm now 10 WP in the hole with 2 days left to go for the week. I'm trying to let it go, but I'm disappointed. irisinnia, it's good that you were able to talk yourself through your stress; we need a variety of coping skills at our disposal and that's one of them. I'm going to go to the gym today at lunch. And I'm going to stick to my DPs today. Those are my goals.

Good morning! I think yesterday was the first day I was 100% on plan (didn't even taste the potato side dish I made for DH and DS lol -they both liked it). I am meal prepping for my dog this morning. Laugh, I know you want to lol. Just green beans, sweet potato and a cup of his dry food simmered in for flavor. This should make 7-8 days worth, and I ordered some ground duck breast that should be here in time for next weeks prep. Duck seems to be the only protein he is for sure not allergic to. The vet said to try turkey later on, like 6-8 weeks, once his skin is cleared up we can "test" the turkey (ground breast mixed in with his green beans/sweet potato stuff).
We're getting ready for actual cold weather over the weekend. Cold for here around freezing. But it's supposed to be in the 70s today and tomorrow. Crazy. No wonder everyone is sick lol. All of the trees are confused, so everything blooms for a day or 2 then it's like "nope, false alarm" for a few days then repeat.

Good morning
Yesterday was my birthday and I had an awesome day. I met with the hiking ladies for a 4 mile hike on the towpath. What a workout that was. Snow and ice made me work for my steps. Then lunch with my friend. My son is getting Chinese food today for lunch. We were both too full for dinner last night. On the hike we saw two Bald Eagles across the river on the Virginia side. So cool.
DotRen, my sister use to make her dogs meals. Your are a good fur mommy. WTG being on plan ;-)
wwlurker, at least you are tracking what you are eating. You may not be happy with it, but you are aware of it!
irisinnia, good for you talking your self out of the food and taking a break instead of eating unwanted calories.
cj59, good for you getting ready to join the Beck review again. I need to check that out.

Hello Everyone irisinnia - That's a great skill to have - being able to recognize that you're not really hungry for food and talking yourself out of eating. It's a skill I need to work on and would like to have in my daily life since I use food as a crutch for so many things. wwlurker - Hope you can make it through today on your DP. I did have to do that often when I'd eaten all my weeklies. Maybe you're activity will balance things out DotRen - Good for you getting on plan. I hate it when the weather is like that and the poor trees and shrubs get confused. That happens a lot where I live in late winter and then we don't get the pretty spring flowers. sunrose - Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Sounds like you had a wonderful day and that hike sounds like it was great. I'm sure it was amazing seeing those eagles. I had a really off day yesterday and didn't eat many healthy foods. I did walk though, so that's something I'm doing better today and have already planned some fruits, vegetables and dairy. I've also already done a 30 minute walk and will do some more later. Hope everyone checking in is doing well and having a good day!
