I just looked up the bio of Allison Tolman who plays the lead in Emergence. I didn't know she's from Sugarland, Texas, which is not far from where I live. A graduate of Baylor University, she's got a big resume. I first saw her in Fargo years ago and really like her. Allison Tolman Biohallian, I'm glad you liked Stumptown like I did. I think it's got potential. Can't wait for The Rookie on Sunday night. I'm sorry that Afton Williamson quit the show. Her character was Talia Bishop.

hallian , thank you for reminding me I need to catch the beginning of it. WHY on Earth do they do that crap with ending shows at the :01 mark so your show gets clipped?!? So annoying! Tivo allows you to specify a global setting for starting early/ending late; I always have it pad recordings by a minute on each end because what you describe just drove me mad. A few programs went beyond the 1 minute variation and even changed it up weekly—they lost my viewership, and I hope the imaginary dollars they earned for their advertisers made up for it.

DH gets so mad when a show runs over and the crucial scene is at the :01 or :02 mark. I try to remember to always set the DVR to run over. Blacklist is one of the worst for doing that. " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png">

I feel like there are at least 2 threads on the fall tv season, so I'm confused - but THAT is nothing new. OK, so how do we feel about the new shows? The Unicorn - I'm already over it. Watched the first 1 or 2 episodes and I'm done. Stumptown - I'm in. I like this show but the main character better have great health insurance because she gets the beans beat out of her constantly. Emergence - I'm in. I think it's intriguing and I want to see where it goes. The Durrels in Corfu - the last season is up on PBS. I LOVE this show so much. The people are so ridiculously weird. Evil - NO. Entirely too creepy. We are a week behind on Stumptown and Emergence. We don't have cable and the new episodes aren't available online for a week after they air originally, so we will be behind all season, but that's ok. We were on vacation at the beach and that makes it worth it. The Rookie - I don't really care about it any longer, although Nathan Fillion has lost a lot of weight.

hallian , I agree with almost all of your assessments. I still like Unicorn, mainly because of the main actor. But, I'm not big on sit-coms so it's not one of my favorites. I still get a chuckle out of some of the lines (mainly from the other couples that try to help him) I too am tiring of The Rookie. I love The Durrells. I've watched Poldark (on PBS) but I'm ready for it to end. I don't like much of the story lines and the pacing of the show is slow. I still like Emergence and Stumpton; I'm interested to see where these shows go. I still like Blacklist but find the plot is unbelievable most of the time. But, I love James Spader. Still a big Survivor fan. We've watched every season and I'm amazed how that show stays fresh, year after year.

Oh, I forgot to mention Survivor! Love it so much. Even when I don't get it I love it. Still haven't figured out the point of Rob and Sandra, but who cares. LOL
Never did watch Blacklist. I am not a fan of James Spader. He just makes me feel icky. I guess that's the sign of a good actor. Ha!
I was thinking I would catch up on Poldark now that I can binge watch it. I just couldn't follow it in the beginning (too slow as you say), but I love those period pieces. It will be something I can watch while riding my stationary bike.

linda72, Apparently, we chose the shows we like well. According to USA Today: Top 5 new shows 1. Stumptown (ABC) 9.1 million 2. All Rise (CBS) 8.5 million 3. Emergence (ABC) 8.4 million 4. Carol's Second Act (CBS) 8.4 million 5. The Unicorn (CBS) 8.1 million Three out of 5 isn't bad.

linda72, I still watch Boston Legal and Stargate whenever I catch them lol. Spader has a really impressive range. I remember him back in movies like Less Than Zero (fell in love with Robert Downey Jr from that one )when he played a bad guy nearly every movie.

hallian, Nathan Fillion is in the Suicide Squad sequel, I wonder if he had to lose a little weight for whatever costume they have him in?

hallian , Nathan Fillion is in the Suicide Squad sequel, I wonder if he had to lose a little weight for whatever costume they have him in? Really? Interesting. I bet that's true. At any rate he has to do a lot of running in The Rookie*, so it probably didn't hurt for him to get more fit to look more convincing in the part.
* yes, I get that it's "acting." LOL
