Yes, Sue—numbers are out of site everywhere—here included. DS Park Ranger was a skeptic being in rural NV but now tells us there are cases in small towns all around them and theirs too—terrible health care in rural NV_—only a few towns with hospitals. We are going to have a totally bankrupted health care system as workers burn out, get sick, and are just physically exhausted and emotionally stressed! We too, are home alone for all the holidays. Taking no chances. Just told Jordan yesterday that we are opting out of having dinner here ==not even outside.
I actually am not ready for Christmas—am building like crazy—finally got DD’s (CA) bowls made physically—not bisque fired yet and then have to decorate—she wants painted inside—will take longer. Made a ramekin for WW BF in a lemon theme—am putting a shaker lemon pie for two in it and that is not fired or glazed yet—in fact not quite dry. I have to make about six more mugs and about five more trees—working every day. And my kids things all have to be mailed! Yikes.
Beautiful weather here—walked this morning my 3 miles which I’ve not been doing—started waiting till afternoon so DH would join me on a shorter walk but it’s just not consistent enough nor long enough so I’ll go back to early morning.
Remember Lori Rosalie who got married a few years ago—she has two kids now—the little boy is 2.5 years old has CP and another rare disorder—yesterday he took off walking on his own without his walker—some said he wouldn’t walk—he is so excited and cute—was a fun video to see. She has done such a great job parenting and is still teaching as well.
DGD20 is moving finally into a one bedroom apt—we helped by paying the fees to move—they will reimburse after getting their money back from the lease on Dec 31==she will have laundry inside the building and an elevator—living on 11th floor. Can hardly wait till Covid is contained so we can go visit! I miss her so much! She is stressing right now—application to several schools in to continue her BA—one at Columbia and on a the NEw school and a few at state schools. No word on any yet! She wants to be able to start end of January. So it’s tight!

Sue, remember the restaurant we ate at—Eatt—well it is a victim of Covid economic disaster—closed. We had a hundred dollar gift card and were going to order thanksgiving curb side dinner from them—botched that up! The chef has his other place still so I might call and ask if they would honor it but I will cook dinner on Thursday—like maybe just a turkey breast. Gary would like potatoes and gravy.
Governor cancelled all sports tournaments—a huge international one was scheduled for week after TG_—10,000 people had reservations, etc.—will lose millions for the city but we are over 2000 new cases every day for a week now! He cut all establishments to 25% capacity—I fear a lot of places will simply have to close. The nightmare is beginning to have its effects. I was so sad to drive by Steinmart and it’s empty—I loved shopping there—my fav discount store!
I am making more clay pieces daily—made two ramen bowls for Jordan for Christmas. Then made three more mugs—I’m making some really nice ones now—and 3 Christmas trees that will need candles under them—well—lights. I have 18 pieces to bisque fire. Will make 2 more trees and another mug and a cookie plate tomorrow and then I’m stopping to start glazing what I have bisque so far—need to get to where I can package up some things to mail.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Have a feeling I will be busy tomorrow—need to clean up my kitchen a bit and will be doing some food prep—I am brining my turkey the way Kamala Harris talked about—first time—will be fun to see how it is. Will make DH a pumpkin pie and some green beans==in casserole but from scratch—I can’t stand Campbell’s cr of mushroom soup.
SHopped at TJ’s this morning early and have been working on glazing today—just also took an afternoon walk. It’s chillier here—got down to 30’s last night. High was about 57 today. Our Covid cases are headed up so fast—almost to 3000 a day now. Rural areas are starting to get it—DS Park Ranger said in their small town of about 3500 there are 300 active cases.
I watched Hillbilly Elegy last night—Amy Adams played the mother—did a great job—I never did read the book but the movie seemed good. I heard the book was excellent.
I rewatched the last episode of The Queen’s Gambit—really loved that serial movie!

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. My immediate family did a late lunch. Everything turned out really good. I tried making one of my grandmother’s cornbread dressing recipes. I’ve never been a fan of dressing, but this turned out pretty good. We did a Zoom call with my dad’s side of the family that evening.
Despite this year’s craziness, there is much to be thankful for.

Hoping everyone is still healthy and safe. Getting so bad out there. So many people I know are losing relatives or friends now. Have been glazing like crazy night and day—going to fire again tomorrow—my last load turned out so good—have all the bowls packed up but the PO line had 30 people waiting outside today—will try going early before they open tomorrow—have to get them all mailed. Delivered gifts to three friends yesterday—no meet ups—just drop offs other than my Gym teacher—she put a wicker chair out in the entry way and she sat in the den window and we chatted for about an hour. She is 67 and her 69 year old AH husband walked out on her—he’s such a loser. He has taken them down financially so often. Even fell for the Trump U. Scheme and lost 5000 to trump. She will have to get a divorce and declare bankruptcy as he has two separate credit cards that he has run up. She stuck by him and managed to hold the ship together so long—40 years—should have left him the first time! We think he has a woman—yup—doesn’t matter how old they are!
I have not walked the past few days because of all this pottery count down! Yikes, gotta’ get back on the pavement.
We have not heard from JoAnne in a long time—hope she is okay.
Holly I saw tonight that NC cases are up 150% since October!
Dreading Christmas alone—but nothing can be done about it! We got DD here a new Apple Watch—more than we usually do but she has a need for the oxygen levels capability—her BF gave her one last year—we just upgraded it to most recent model—with his permission. The other kids are just getting pottery as we have helped them with a few other things recently. We are getting the grandkids each an Apple home pod mini—except DGD20 in NY as we are helping her with rent getting into the new single apt. So she will get pottery also! I am giving all my gym friends little pottery Christmas tree tea lights which I need to deliver any the end of the week. I am giving some friends mugs or cookie plates I’ve made or butter dishes. So fun to finally be able to make something worth giving away as a gift.
had my right eye fixed—left one is on the 16th.
WWBF’s DH has been in the hospital 4 weeks now—he has congenital heart failure and I am afraid things are not going to get much better.
So so tired—thinking I am going to go to bed early for me!

Hi all,
I am finished with classes for the semester. Always strange to be so immersed in it, then it is done. Not sure what to do with myself.
NC’s daily count has tripled over the last couple of weeks, and we’re just now starting to get Thanksgiving cases.
The semester is going to start a week late in the Spring, then we won’t have Spring Break. That won’t affect me that much.

Holly, I think schools here, colleges, are done also—I think they finished at Thanksgiving due to Covid and will start up second semester end of January.
It is so bad everywhere now! I am so worried about my DD in CA as she is flying to NY to DGD20 to help her pack and move—so worry about her! I sent her special clear gloves and she has a cleaning kit ready to fly with.
Hoping Sue and JoAnne are both okay.

DD had a really good flight—open set by her going to Chicago and the whole aisle open going to NYC. She tested before going and is negative and is not going out at all other than to help move stuff to the apt which is right around the corner and half a block up.
I have delivered my ceramic Christmas tree Tea lights to 15 different people—was so fun—most I just set at the door and texted—they were so surprised. This is what I wanted to be able to do with my clay pieces! Tonight we took two to neighbors instead of cookies. DS in SLCity opened up one of his packages last night—they loved the cereal bowls and ate a rice bowl for dinner using them—sent me a picture. DD’s in CA arrived today finally and the package doesn’t rattle! Yay! I have to mail a mug to a cousin yet—was planning to do that today but we cleaned house all morning and honestly did not feel well today—sort of back to lite headedness like a few months ago.. Wondering if I have an ear infection as my ears are stuffy also. I actually took a nap today which is totally out of character.
NV topped the nation in Covid hospitalizations per capita yesterday!
Kind of cold and windy tonight—thinking a non stressful movie and hot tea and early to bed!
A former teacher of mine brought over a poinsettia and left it on my front entry yesterday—it’s so pretty. I haven’t had one in a few years!
Hoping you all are finding happy moments and a few surprises in your life to make up for all the isolation—wish I could drop a tree at your front door!

Hi!
It's been tough 4 weeks. SO's younger brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a week before Thanksgiving and passed away Tues after Thanksgiving. It all happened so quickly. We had no idea how bad it was. SO's nephew called early in Nov and said that his dad was not doing well, lost a lot of weight. We knew that he had given up smoking in the spring, he told SO he wanted to get healthy. We were glad to hear that but had no clue that we was already feeling bad. He hated going to the dr, never had annual physicals, waited until it was too late to seek medical help. So sad, he looked young for his age (a couple of yrs younger than SO) and was active and seemed healthy. Now SO is the only one left of his immediate family, elder brother passed away 4 years ago from melanoma. We were actually going to drive up to see his brother, but the day before we were to go, he was already out of it, so we ended up not going. He passed away hours before we would have arrived at his house. We were stressed as well about the 6 hour drive up to Boston area, not wanting to stop along the way because of the pandemic. Terrible year. The only good thing is that last year, SO decided to give his brother money that he originally was going to leave his brother in his will. Instead, SO thought it would be better to give him the money early so that he could enjoy it or at least feel more secure. And he did splurge a little bit last year on himself, so we are glad he had that.
Joan, your pottery gifts sound wonderful. Glad your DD got to nyc safely. It is very scary traveling during this time with all the experts warning against it.
Holly, enjoy your time off. You should totally relax and do nothing for awhile!
I'm also wondering about Jojo.
Cases are increasing here as well. There is no end in sight until we get the vaccines, since there is a whole segment of country who refuse to believe in science and are in denial.

Oh Sue—what a sad story—I feel sorry for your SO—I remember when my dad died I was the last person in my family alive and I went into a depression for a few months—it is a strange feeling when everyone else is gone. I am so glad that he decided to gift him some money while he was alive and knew his brother cared that much about him. Please let SO know how very sorry we are to hear about this loss.
You know when my friend and former secretary died of bile duct cancer she died within 3 weeks of diagnosis—she too did not believe or want to go to drs and had never even had a mammogram or a colonoscopy and was 83! Cancer was everywhere but oddly she was only actually sick for those 3 weeks—had been tired and coughing but not enough to stop her from doing things. If he had known he had this sooner he might have spent his last year in horrible treatment miserable—it’s hard to know—but that particular cancer is so rare to manage much survival even with treatment.
I have been feeling ill the past couple days—Ithink I’ve gotten a cold—no fever—just tired and lots of head/ear/nasal congestion. Have done very little other than walk this morning and make soup today. I hate that we cannot even get the sniffles and not think that we may have Covid! I keep taking my temperature.
I have about five mugs to box and wrap and one to mail and then I’m all done!
Trying to get myself to put up the tree but I am not sure I’m going to. If I don’t it will be the only Christmas in 76 years of life that I have not had a tree—but I’m having trouble trying to get into it. Probably if I start feeling better I will get in a better place mentally!

DD (here)’s X has covid! I guess he celebrated his birthday with some friends and one tested positive and he started having symptoms. His health is terrible from the cirrhosis—DGS’s said at Thanksgiving his eyes were yellow again—and while he was told no more drinking he of course has never stopped. This could go badly.
I have had a cold for three days—fourth today —but feeling better—taking temp constantly but no fever. However we canceled and rescheduled my other eye surgery since I would be spreading this around. I think I actually have fluid in my ears again as I was experiencing the dizziness again—better today since I started taking the anti-inflammatory pill again.
I have accomplished nothing the past few days—even took a nap two days—so unlike me.
DGD got moved into her single apt—DD is still with her in NYC—had a covid test and is still negative after flying—however the plane was not at all crowded so no one sat next to her.
Finally the electoral thing is over and done—would love to have the drama stop!

Hoping you all are healthy—I am starting to build with clay again after a two week break, Very happy today as Jordan got a job at Sprouts grocery store—he is about out of money—the meds are happening—he told me today he would not even have been able to apply before—he was just stuck in a hole emotionally! Doing curbside pick up for him and his GF on Christmas—I still have to get to an Asian market and get some black or red chopsticks for the bowls I made them. I’ve sent everything or delivered it now—can’t wait for the kids and some others to open their pottery.

Hi all,
Glad to have a couple of weeks off. Trying to manage packages is driving me nuts. I ordered CI batteries last week and the package came open and empty. I kind of need those batteries.
Joan, that is really cool. I knownthat they will appreciate it.

I private messaged JoAnne and she responded right away—-she has been super trouble with upper back trouble and has been to drs and has had such a hard time sleeping and sounded as tho it was quite miserable—possible injuries to her from the fall and dog bite—rotator cuff may be torn as well—so she has not had or does not have covid so that’s good but has just not felt good with all this!
Gary and I are trying to book flights for Hawaii for July beach week and discovered they have sent us communications that show two different dates-==trying to get it straightened out today and it’s been a nightmare—awaiting an email directly from the property owner—luckily DH saved all the emails so we have proof of all the dates and the actual property. But I can’t book any flights as a result until we get confirmation of which date is for certain.
I have had so much trouble managing my eating the past two weeks—so frustrated with sweets coming into the house from friends—I have such an addiction—trying today to increase protein and green veggies. I must get back to walking—having this weird cold really took it’s toll on my exercise routine which boils down to walking! Feeling better now but it was windy this morning. Ugh.
Holly, I had another friend that got an empty package as well—hope you get it straightened out without being without power for your CI’s.
We saw the planets last night but it wsn’t as spectacular as hoped. DS got a good picture tho that showed Jupiter’s moons and Saturn and Jupiter. It was very cool—he said he couldn’t see them with the naked eye tho—just the planets.
