I started WW in 1986. I still have all of my attendance books. I started with the Flex plan, so ready to lose weight. I did everything I was supposed to do and expected a weight loss when I stepped on the scales the next week. I gained 5#. I was so upset. My sister suggested I try the Fat and Fiber. I did and after 3 months, I lost 25# and made goal. Here I am 35 years later. Alot has changed as far as my health but starting today, I'm going to try Fat and Fiber again.

I came across this thread because I was googling fiber and weight loss. Fat and Fiber worked well for me back in the day. The newer WW plans, with the ridiculous point formulations, that they changed every few years, not so much. I have been following a plan where I count fiber and protein grams, that is all, and it works well for me. I found a study on line, titled A nonrestrictive weightloss diet focused on fiber and lean protein increase. It was done by the University of Massachusetts Medical School. I followed the directions, it really doesn’t restrict anything as long as you meet your protein and fiber quotas! It is working for me, and I’m fascinated by the science behind it. I’m glad I found this thread. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

I loved it. I lost 22 lbs and at my physical I amazed the doctor with perfect #’s of good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides. It was easy to do, just used the book to eat vegetables and fruit mostly with the most fiber and zero fat. My hair and skin were glowing I was told. Wish they would repeat it.

Was this the one were members were adding fiber powder (like Metamucil) to foods like ice cream so it would be free? One of my old leaders mentioned members eating whole bags of Fig Newtons too.

susan092907, That was before my time. I lost my weight in the 1990's twice and I think it was the program that was like having exchanges. This time I started in 2006. I lost on the two programs before Points Plus.

I'm looking for the low fat high fiber food list from WW from back in the late 90's. Does anyone have that?

It worked great for me. Easy to follow and track. I lost 108 lbs in 1 year on the plan and kept it off for 20 years!! Just talked to my PCP this morning about using it to shed about 10-15 lbs -‘and he gave me the thumbs up!

I loved it. And did well. But did well whenever I needed help on all the WW programs. But hated the points plus and have never gone back! I was looking for fat and fiber program rules. Thanks!

I remember it! I found it easy to follow. Unfortunately, didn’t lose much weight. But I hear many people did.

The fat and fiber plan is the one I did best on, and hit my goal twice. That's why I was searching for it.

On 3 fat chicks website there is a post that says:
The "Fat and Fiber" plan was added in December 1994. Under this plan, members are instructed to limit fat intake to between 15 and 35 grams daily (men and youths can go up to 45 g/day), eat between 20-60 grams of fiber daily, consume a minimum of 2 servings of dairy foods daily (3 servings for youths), eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, and limit intake of refined sugars and alcoholic beverages.
I remember doing it for awhile. I also remember throwing out ALL of my old information starting in 1984 through to the present thinking I would NEVER DO A DIET AGAIN...hah!
Anyway...you can use any book with nutritional information to follow this with the information above.

I never did this version of WW (joined for the first time in the 1-2-3 Success era) This looks a lot easier than the current version, to be honest. I may have to give it an honest trial. It looks as if it would be sustainable. And yes, I was one of those people who zeroed out the points on ice cream by coating it in Fiber 1 cereal. Bran and Jerry's FTW!

I loved this plan. Wasn't there a way to subtract the fiber from the fat to calculate the net carbs if you didn't have the slide?
