All I've got to say is the pretzels I buy are fat free. I can eat a lot of them.

I joined and got to lifetime on 123 Success, which came in on F&F's coattails. We all ate Kashi's Good Friends cereal for 1 point of fiber, gak.
I'm pretty sure the next version was Winning Points, then Momentum. Or was Turnaround before Momentum? LOL it's fuzzy.

When I joined in 2006 it was the Turn Around program. Lost most of my weight on that.

I don't remember a program specifically called Fat and Fiber. I do remember the old liver and fish plan, followed by Quick Start, The Freedom Plan, then 123 success, Turnaround (flex and core), Momentum, Points Plus, Smart Points, Beyond the Scale and 360, Freestyle, and the 3 color plan. I know that we used the paper sliders to determine fat and fiber with the original points variations.

This was the easiest WW program I ever followed, I lost 84 pounds and managed to keep it off for almost 5 years until my mother got sick and I started stress eating. Sure hated to see it gone, I was never good at the point system.

Just five basic rules to follow each day: 1. Limit fat to no more than 35 grams for women or 45 grams for men. 2. Eat at least 20 grams of fiber (25 for men). 3. Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables. 4. Eat at least two servings of dairy foods, but remember they also can contribute to the fat count. But it worked for a lot of people, deprivation is never the answer, it’s the reason why diets fail. To tell people NOT to eat a cookie… your body requires it. I was also a member of WW back when you had to eat organ meat and canned fish, yuck! 5. Go easy on refined sugars and alcohol and don't eat or drink them until after the fiber requirement has been met. Unlike earlier programs, this plan doesn't require people to be nutritional accountants, Miller-Kovach says. With the exception of putting a lid on fat grams, it essentially tells people to eat almost anything they want.

I just found some old materials from 1996, and indeed, it is the fat and fiber plan. Interesting...if you weigh between 175 and 250 you could have up to 7 breads, 5 fats, and at least 5 fruits. Also, there were 250 bonus calories for extras. I don't have the complete plan, just one paper with the allowances, and one paper for tracking.

My husband lost 20 lbs on the Fat & Fiber Plan. It was great if you followed it properly. And it set the stage for a new eating lifestyle.

I LOVED this program. I ALWAYS had a loss each week on it. They had this program going at the same time as the selection points plan. Each week people would always complain how they woul gain or remain the same on points plan. Fat and Fiber forced you to eat way more fruits and veggies. Plus you could eat as much fruits and veggies you wanted. Fiber always made you feel more full so you felt more satisfied. Points is way to easy to make you think you could eat what ever you wanted as long as you counted the points. With that mindset people ate more junk even if they stayed in the point range yet could understand why they didn’t have a loss or a bigger loss.

I can’t believe people didn’t like this plan. In those days you got little cardboard slide rule thingys to calculate the number of fat and fiber points. People figured out right away that if you ate lots of fiber, the calculator would totally negate the fat. With enough fiber you could go into negative fats. However, if you ate that much fiber, and didn't understand that you had to drastically increase your liquids, you could get severely bound up in a hurry. And since people were no fonder of drinking water then than they are now, there was a lot of discussion in meetings about medical solutions to the side effects of excessive fiber.

I did Fat and Fiber and it worked well for me, that's why I just Googled it! When I was doing it, I also tracked for the other program that was going on at the same time and found they came out to be very similar. I found it easier just to track fat and fiber.
